The ship was in good order. As far as we know there were no somach upsets or "cruise coughs". Perhaps thanks to the forced hygene on the ship.
We think quality and choice in the traditional dining room has slipped a bit with princess Cruises though I don't think any of us dine up to their standards all the time at home.
There is plenty to do on the ship if you are young and agile. At least 70% of the passengers were over 60 years old . There were quite a few with mobility problems too, who seemed to be well catered for, and the usual very obese who indulged themselves continuously, We tried the Crown restauraunt which was very good, foodwise and atmosphere. We were a bit disappointed with the Saburtini Italian restauaunt though they had the better venue. Not being Italian I can't complain about the food but it wasn't to my taste and there was not a lot of choice. We had steak which was excellent.
Our inside cabin was average size but very clean. The bedding was very comfortable, and the steward, Max, did his job efficiently with friendly attitude.
Most of the over- 50s would agree that the very loud screething "music" and over- enthusiastic announcements are very irritating, and need to be softened.
New Zealand is a beautiful country and we enjoyed every port. However, shore excursions with Princess are very expensive and well managed. We always take excursions with Viator a very reliable Company who garantee to return to the ship in time and on the whole, they are about 20% cheaper and very good value.
